Nestled at the foot of the mountains overlooking Howe Sound, South Britannia will transform the derelict rock quarry into a complete mixed-use community, anchored by a new state-of-the-art surf park. We are proud of our continuing work in the planning and design for Tigerbay’s new adventure-focused community south of Britannia Beach.

Positioned between Vancouver and Whistler, 14km south of Squamish, South Britannia promises to be a welcomed addition to the active tourism destinations of the Sea-to-Sky Corridor. The new community proposes more than 1,000 homes centred around a new state-of-the-art destination surf park.
Partnering with Wavegarden to design Canada’s first full-sized surf park, the facility will pump up to 1,000 waves per hour, from barreling waves for the pros to reforming waves for the beginner.
In addition to destination tourism and accommodation, the master plan provides for a series of walkable neighbourhoods providing 1,050 homes including 900 market houses and 150 rental and affordable apartments. Linked by a network of public parks and trails, the community includes neighbourhood retail and civic facilities including childcare, pump track and skate park, as well as areas for a school and/or community centre. The development of South Britannia enables the revitalization of Minaty Bay as a public park. The 12.8 acre waterfront gem will become one of the few publicly accessible beaches in the Howe Sound serving residents and visitors alike.
Placemark continues to build on this legacy with design that celebrates all that Sea to Sky living has to offer.
