The challenging quest I handed the Placemark team was to design a one of a kind, diverse, walkable and socially stimulating ‘Agrivillage’ of up to 2,000 homes that harmoniously binds together the Tranquille community’s single-family homes, townhomes, and apartments into unique neighborhoods. We required an original solution capable of bridging conflicting special interest pressures: First Nations, riparian and agricultural reserve complications, historical preservation, difficult utility servicing hurdles, and others – all of which challenged good community design. Placemark’s team was able to create a vibrant community masterplan of neighborhoods cleverly intertwining the community between the rushing waters of Tranquille Creek, the beautiful shoreline of Kamloops Lake, and the property’s historically award-winning farm. The Placemark team always listened, was fun to work with, and really came through.
